25th Birthday!

Yes, another year has passed in this life of mine... I turned 25 this past Sunday.

It was just another normal day, and I would have forgotten the fact that it was my birthday except for the fact that so many people wished me "Happy Birthday" throughout the day. I wasn't really expecting anything except to have a nice day and crash at home after church on Sunday.

Well, we got home, and Morten our neighbor came over and said, "Do you want to come over to Sarah's for cake?" And of course, I went over to Sarah's (she and her husband are fellow missionaries from Los Angeles) for cake. When I walked into her house, it was dark, and I heard all kinds of whispering. I walked around the corner of the kitchen, and EVERYONE in the neighborhood was hiding in the house (close to 25-30 people), and they yelled, "Surprise!" This was the first actual surprise party I've had in my life, and I was so blessed. I had the best time and was laughing and crying all at the same time, and the biggest surprise of all was being blessed with a TV and a DVD player, so that I could have them in my room for my own "private life," so I don't always have to be with the other interns in the house (because sometimes it feels as if I never am able to come home from work) but I have time for myself.

It was such a wonderful day. And all the birthday greetings and surprises I received ALL DAY LONG really showed me how much I am loved and how much I love the people here. I guess it is a good witness to how much God has worked through me in my time here. I am so thankful to God for that!
